Instrumentation

Osimo has extensive experience in a wide variety of instrumentation installations such as:

  • In-place Inclinometers: Inclinometers measure ground movement below the surface. Installed in boreholes, they detect biaxial lateral (sideways) movement in embankments and foundations, helping identify potential slope instability in tailings dams. In place inclinometers can be further enhanced by combining these with extensometers

  • Shape Arrays: Shape arrays are advanced in-place inclinometer systems that provide continuous deformation profiles along their full length. They deliver real-time movement data, making them ideal for monitoring embankment performance and detecting early signs of instability. Shape arrays can be implemented in vertical or horizontal applications.

  • Tiltmeters: Tiltmeters measure very small changes in slope angle or rotation. Installed on dam walls or structures, they provide early warning of movement or structural changes.

  • Crack Meters: Crack meters monitor the opening and closing of cracks in concrete or soil structures. They help track structural movement and ensure cracks in dam walls or infrastructure remain within safe limits.

  • Weather stations: Weather stations provide data on rainfall, wind speed, wind direction, relative humidity and barometric pressure.

  • Solar power gateways: Solar power solutions for gateways in secure and highly visible enclosures for protection against construction and other activities. These solar units are ideal as a remote gateway powering solution for sunny African conditions.

  • Other sensors/Data loggersWe provide solutions to monitor several other instruments -

    • Pulse based instruments – for example tipping bucket rain gauges to measure cumulative rainfall or flow meters to measure cumulative flow volume

    • 4-20mV or 4-20mA – for example radar distance sensors to measure levels in silos or storage vessels. Or flow meters to indicate flow speed.
